Dad/Grandpa update from 7/17/10

Scott, Craig, Linda, Susan, Eric, Allison, Rosemary, Oscar, and 3 men from the ward went down to dad's/grandpa's house on Saturday.

We had 3 members of the ward who came to help us do work around the yard.  I want to give them a special THANK YOU! to them.  We were able to complete so many projects outside on Saturday.  The yard is looking so much better.

Everyone worked so hard and deserve a big thanks.  As we were leaving I noticed that the temperature was 104 degrees and everyone had been working so hard out in the warming day.

The fence in the backyard was knocked down and all of the fence posts removed.

All of the wood and fencing was able to go into the dumpster.

Eric and Linda kept working outside all day.  They were able to move all of the fencing out front to get ready for the sale.
It is amazing what everyone was able to accomplish today.  thank you everyone for making things look so great.

We were able to throw out enough stuff to fill up the dumpster once again.
Eric and Linda cut down the grapevine in the front yard.  Thanks, this looks so much better.
Oscar trimmed all of the lilac bushes.  This really helped clean things up and it looks much better.  Thank you for your hard work.

It was decided that it would be much easier to remove and replace the bath tub since we were pulling everything else out of the bathroom.
These guys sure had a workout today.  This bathtub was at least 150 lbs.  You are all amazing!
We pulled up all of the particle board off the floor to get rid of water damage and a lot of the smell.
The bathroom is looking and smelling much better.  We now have to put in the new floor, fix the plumbing, replace the wall, and install the new bathtub.
This was our visitor for the day.  He followed us all around and kept wanting to come help us in the house as well.

Saturday Projects

Here is a list of things that would be great if we could get accomplished this next weekend.  The dumpster will be available to put in any materials we need.  As you can see the list is long for things to do so we could use any help we can get.  There are tons of things outside as well as inside, we are going to need some muscle to move some things around, other things are just going to need bodies to help get them finished.  We only have the dumpster for a limited time (about 2 weeks) and we need to get everything into it that needs to go.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to come down to help, or if there is anything specific you want to help with.

List of things that need to be done next weekend
  1. Mow front yard
  2. Weed-eat
  3. Spray wasps (need to get some Wasp Spray -  25 feet)
  4. Fence Posts to the dumpster
  5. Wood fencing to dumpster
  6. Sandbox -move bricks, clean out and fill in hole
  7. Cans of food put in truck to go to pigs
  8. Clean front porch area

Dad/Grandpa update from 7/10/10

Scott, Craig, Braden, Susan, Eric and I went down to dad's/grandpa's house on Saturday.

Eric arrived early and started to work in the yard.  He was able to mow down all the grass and weeds in backyard.

He also began to take some of the fencing material out to the dumpster.  He could not take it all out since the temperature began going up and then the wasps came out.

The back yard looks so much better, thanks Eric!
As you can see in this picture the Iris' are still available.  If you are planning to come down you can still get all that you want.

Braden began working in the bathrooms and was able to finish getting them emptied so we can now begin work there.

These two pictures are the main bathroom.

 Here is the master bathroom.
It is amazing what a difference it makes when everything is gone.

Braden kept working in the master bath and finished installing the sheetrock all around the master bath.

Next, we are onto the main bath walls and the floors, thanks Braden.

Scott and Craig spent most of their day working out in the garage.  There is just so much out there that must be sorted and then determine where it needs to go.

Susan and I spent most of our day cleaning and pricing more items for the yard sale.  We have sorted most of dad's cassette tapes and have most of the ones that he has been asking for.

Carolyn, Susan and I are planning to go down on Wednesday to continue with more cleaning and pricing.

All in all, I think that this was a very productive day.  There is just so much more that needs to be done so we are planning on working again next weekend.

Calling Everyone!!!

One more post for the day.  I hope that this message finds you all well.  We currently have a dumpster to throw things away but we need to get everything put into it while it is still available.  We would like to make a big push to get some big things done on the 17th and we need many bodies and muscle.  We will know more after this Saturday exactly what needs to or can be done on the 17th.  Please check your calenders to see if you could possibly come help (even if it is only for a few hours).  Any and all help would be WONDERFUL!

Possible things on July 17th
  1. Fence posts to the dumpster
  2. Moving Furniture
  3. Cleaning windows
  4. Tilling back yard
  5. Trimming bushes
  6. Cleaning out flowerbeds
  7. Washing walls

If anyone is wanting any Iris (Flags) from his house I need to know immediately.  They may not be available after this weekend.

I will let you all know more details after we go down to work this Saturday.

Thank You...

I wanted to thank everyone who has put in time currently and over the years to complete projects at dad/grandpa's house.  We are continuing to work on projects each week and would love any help we can get from anyone.

I know there are many reasons why it is hard or impossible to come down to dad/grandpa's house.  I have had a couple of people ask if they could contribute some money for the cause to help since they can not come down.  Anything that you are willing to do would be greatly appreciated.  We have so many supplies that we need to buy and it all begins to add up quickly.  If this is something that you are wanting to do you can send a check to me.  (If you need my address, please email me.)

I have tried to brainstorm a few ideas you can help with if you can't come all the way down to dad/grandpa's house,  Here is my list so far, this can always change as things come up or if you think of something else please let me know.

Things to do if you can't come down to dad/grandpa's house.
  1. Contribute money
  2. Make phone calls
  3. Extra visits to see Grandpa (he gets so lonely and bored, and loves to see everyone.)
  4. Allison's House (I am much closer to many of you and still have several things to finish.)
  5. Freezer Meals
  6. Projects for Grandpa to stay busy (wondering about humanitarian projects?)
  7. Yard Sale up here (this is what is left over after the yard sale at dad/grandpa's house)
  8. Sorting Family History
  9. Trailer/Moving furniture
Here is a link to the list of items that need to be finished at dad/grandpa's house, and Allison's house.

I would like to start putting together a list of things everyone is willing to help with, so I don't have to always wonder how everything is getting accomplished.  (Ex.  If you donate money - I can check off toilet is payed for, no more worries.  If you have time to work on July 17th - I can coordinate which projects we can accomplish and have the proper people to complete.)

I also wanted to thank anyone who has responded to email/posts or talked to me about different things.  I know that everyone is busy but even a quick message from each family stating what item(s) they might be willing to help with would be great.  Once I know what people can do then I can try to coordinate more things (jobs, projects, supplies, time).

I hope you all have a wonderful day.  Thank you for all of your help!

Dad/Grandpa update from 7/7/10

Carolyn, Susan and I went down to dad's/grandpa's house on Wednesday.

As soon as we arrived the glass company was there to begin replacing windows.  HURRAY!!!  All of the broken windows are replaced and look great.  Now we need to make sure and get them all cleaned so they are sparkling bright.

Contractor Randy also stopped by to talk to us about anything else that we might need to have done in the house, (plumbing, sheetrock, tile, etc).  We are still waiting on any quotes to see if there is anything that we need to have someone else come in and do for us.

Carolyn, Susan and I spent the rest of the day cleaning and pricing things to include for the Yard Sale.

Here is a picture of what it looked like when we arrived.
We need to clean and price everything here as well as everything in the bedroom.

This is what it looked like when we left.

Here is a pile of everything that we got ready.  As you can see there is still tons of things to get ready, it just takes a lot of time to go through every single item.

I know that there are several people planning to go down to dad/grandpa's this weekend.   If you are able and willing to come help, please let me know so that I can coordinate which projects we can get done this time around.

Dad/Grandpa update from 6/30/10

Carolyn, Susan and I went down to dad's/grandpa's house on Wednesday.

Carolyn and Susan removed the wallpaper from the walls in the computer room.  Once we get a few furniture items out of this room (desk, file cabinet, shelf) then we can wash walls and begin to paint.

  Computer room

We have two bathrooms to be gutted and remodeled.  We met with two different contractors to get quotes to finish these two bathrooms.  We are currently waiting to hear back from both of them to determine what we (as a family) need to complete and which things we could possibly have someone do for us since everyone is short on time and energy.

After discussing what needs to be done in the bathrooms we decided to get them ready to be worked on.  We emptied all of the tools out of the master bath and removed fixtures from the walls.
 Master bath

 Master vanity

We removed fixtures and the tub surround in the main bath.

  Main bath vanity

Main bath walls

Once we finished in the bathrooms we decided to start cleaning some items to get ready for the yard sale.  As you can see in this picture below (the items on the piano bench are what we completed) we did not get very far.  We have tons of items to get cleaned up (mostly wiping off the years of dust) and price so we are ready for the yard sale.  This job is not really hard, it is just time consuming.

Any help that anyone wants to give would be greatly appreciated.  Susan, Carolyn, Leila, and I are planning to go back down either Wednesday, or Thursday, next week.  If anyone else is available and wants to come you are very welcome, just email or call me to schedule.  (stampinaunt@gmail.com, 801-755-3062)
